MCP-only consumer app proves Claude as a viable UI surface for complex financial workflows.

Strengths
  • Runs entirely inside Claude — genuinely novel distribution model, not a web app veneer.
  • Multi-tool calling required for finance (transaction cleanup, projections, analysis) proves MCP viability for real apps.
  • Founding Plaid engineers = deep fintech credibility and security practice.
Weaknesses
  • Entirely dependent on Claude availability and model stability; no fallback.
  • Early-stage: self-hosted roadmap mentioned but not shipping, third-party data sharing still required.

We've to build a conversationa way to talk to your money. It lives entirely in Claude right now -- no standalone mobile or web app.

To our knowledge, there are few, if any, full-featured consumer apps that exist entirely as MCP servers. We believe that's chat surfaces with MCP servers will become the primary user interface of the future.

The user experience is genuinely very cool, from cleaning your Plaid transaction history to projecting future cash balances.

We initially started with ChatGPT for obvious distribution reasons but found that Claude is the only viable option right now for consumer MCP experiences due to its multi-tool calling ability -- it's critical.

A potential next step goal with this project is to make it self-hosted and remove all third-party data sharing, aside from your bank.
