Netflix UI for torrent streaming, but Jellyfin, Plex, and Stremio already solve self-hosted media.

  • Clean Netflix-like profile UI with individual local libraries per profile
  • One-click stream while downloading with quality refetch options
  • Zero tracking, everything runs locally without Posthog or analytics
Weaknesses
  • Torrent media managers already exist in Stremio, Popcorn Time, and similar tools
  • Legal concerns limit mainstream adoption and distribution channels

Post Description

Plank is Netflix for internet pirates. The goal is to provide Netlfix level UI/UX to people who want to own the media they consume.

Plank lets you:

- Browse a catalog of movies and tv shows and one-click stream while you download - Search for any movie or show in the catalog or in your library - Manage your media including refeching a media file with a higher quality torrent - Add your friends and family to your profile or make one for them - Filter low quality or untrusted torrents, add any torrent indexers you want - Add subtitles in 10 different languages

Everything is local and runs on device. I dont even have Posthog setup or anything.

If youd like to give it a try, I have a read-only demo here:

https://plank.lsreeder.com/

Note that the demo site doesn't actually stream any media for legal reasons

You can read our docs to spin up your own instance here:
