MidNiche GemCozy

ESPN bracket simulator with live probability updates when FiveThirtyEight already does this.

Strengths
  • Client-side simulation means no server costs and instant recalculation as games progress.
  • What-if scenario mode lets users manually set future game outcomes to test strategies.
  • Live probability rankings update visually as thousands of tournament simulations complete.
Weaknesses
  • ESPN-only support excludes Yahoo, CBS, and other major bracket platforms.
  • Seasonal utility — useful for two weeks per year, then sits unused until next March.

Post Description

For those of you with March Madness brackets (specifically on ESPN), I made a site that simulates the tournament thousands of times to show you:

- every bracket's chances of winning your group,

- how each outcome of upcoming games affect those chances (you don't always want your pick to win!), and

- you can also manually select the outcomes of future games to re-run the simulator with your own "what-if" scenarios.

All the probabilities and rankings update live as the simulations run, which makes for a fun visual. The simulator runs client-side.

If you don't have a group but just want to see how the site works, here's an interesting one to look at: https://madness.imranh.org/group/277:4QtbGETnmegaJZU3n5TRpn
