AI Analysis

MidEye CandyShip It

shields.io clone with curated examples but no real differentiation.

Strengths
  • 189+ curated badge examples organized by category and use case.
  • Clean UI with style, icon, and theme customization before export.
  • Click-to-copy workflow is smoother than shields.io's generator.
Weaknesses
  • shields.io is the entrenched standard with identical core functionality.
  • Badges are a solved problem—being prettier isn't meaningful differentiation.
Target Audience

Post Description

hey hn! been working on a small side project called shieldcn and just added a badge builder + community showcase. the shieldcn project was so well recieved and I got some great feedback, so coming here in hopes I get more.

https://www.shieldcn.dev/showcase

the idea is just to make badges that feel a bit more like real UI instead of the usual shields style ones

you can mess around with styles, icons, themes and share whatever you make

still super early so mostly trying to figure out if this is actually useful or if i'm missing something obvious

if anything feels off or confusing let me know

also if you make something drop it, curious what people come up with!

thanks,

justin
